Andrew Garfield Becomes Sam Altman in the First Trailer for Artificial

The first trailer for Artificial puts one of tech’s most dramatic power struggles on the big screen.

Directed by Luca Guadagnino, the film stars Andrew Garfield as Sam Altman and centers on the 2023 OpenAI crisis that saw Altman fired and then reinstated days later.

The cast also includes Yura Borisov as Ilya Sutskever, Monica Barbaro as Mira Murati, and Ike Barinholtz as Elon Musk, placing some of AI’s most recognizable figures inside a Hollywood drama about ambition, control, and technological power.

Artificial is set to premiere at the New York Film Festival before opening in select theaters on Christmas Day.
