Ahluwalia’s Spring 2027 Collection Finds Joy Inside Resistance

Priya Ahluwalia is using Spring 2027 to explore how joy can exist alongside resistance.

The collection draws inspiration from FESTAC ’77, the major Pan-African arts and culture festival held in Lagos, as well as photographs of Black Panther members outside moments of protest. 

That research appears through double-layered tailoring, slouchy denim, soccer shirts, military-inspired pieces, fringed dresses, and sculptural occasionwear, blending political references with clothes built around movement and celebration. 

The result is a collection that treats pleasure, community, and style as part of cultural resilience rather than separate from it.
